What if leftovers had a leaderboard?

We all know we should waste less food.

We doggy-bag our leftovers with the best intentions but when lunchtime rolls around, leftovers often get sidelined in the place of shiny new food.

So we gave leftovers the love they deserve with the Leftover Legends Challenge: a national competition where every saved plate helped Kiwis climb the leaderboard.

An interactive map turned leftovers into a nationwide food-saving showdown, with Kiwis from all over battling it out for the top spot.

By the end of the month, 8,301 plates had been saved from the bin.

The supporting act to our challenge? Giving leftovers legends the rockstar treatment!

We created a series of street posters that treated everyday people like legends, for the simple act of serving themselves their very own delicious leftovers in the lunchroom.

As the background talent looked on mournfully/adoringly/jealously, the OOH brought personality from our leftover saving utopia into the real world, reminding people that the leftovers sitting in their fridge weren't destined for the bin; they were destined for digestion.
